Experience From zero Negotiation to successively Receiving Orders for electromagnetic brake products

2026-10-19

It has been nearly two months since I joined the company's foreign trade position. During this period, I have continuously developed and followed up with customers, and have now successfully facilitated 3 orders. The customer follow-up situation is summarized as follows:

The first order is from a UK customer, for a customized C-type electromagnetic clutch. From receiving the inquiry to the customer placing the order for sampling, it took 25 days. This customer is a key potential major client. This order is a sample prototyping order. After the customer's subsequent project is implemented, the estimated annual purchase volume can reach 1,000-2,000 units. The core difficulty of this order lies in the customized technical coordination, which required a long communication cycle. During this period, I repeatedly confirmed technical requirements such as installation dimensions and output torque with the customer, drew and cross-checked drawings back and forth, implemented each parameter one by one, eliminated the customer's concerns about the adaptability of customized products, successfully reached the sampling order, and laid a solid foundation for subsequent large-volume supply.

The second order is from a Tunisian customer, purchasing 8 power-off brakes, with the entire follow-up cycle lasting 10 days. The customer focused on the match between product parameters and on-site working conditions. I patiently answered technical questions continuously, responded promptly to the customer's various confirmation needs, maintained a stable follow-up rhythm, and arranged payment and order placement after the customer confirmed everything was correct.

The third order came from the Wangwang channel. The customer purchased an electromagnetic clutch and requested modification of the mounting hole positions. The communication and deal were completed in only 3 days. The customer's needs were clear, the changes were simple, and after quickly confirming the modification plan, the order was finalized in a short time.

These two months of practical experience have given me deep insights. In foreign trade of transmission-type industrial products, technical communication is the core of closing deals. When customers purchase accessories such as clutches and brakes, their primary concern is whether parameters and installation dimensions match the equipment; price is secondary. The follow-up pace varies greatly among different customers. Customized major customers need sufficient time to check drawings and parameters, resulting in longer cycles; customers with minor modifications to standard parts make decisions faster. Going forward, I will continue to accumulate product technical knowledge, prepare drawings and parameter materials in advance, adjust follow-up frequency according to customer types, focus on maintaining this potential UK customer, and explore more potential orders.
